More details
We in CAFOD’s community fundraising team will take up the livesimply challenge by sharing a simple lunch once a month. One of us will bring soup for the whole team and we’ll each give what we would normally spend on lunch to CAFOD.
There are two aspects about this that are important to all of us - sharing as colleagues and remembering that what we give is not charity, but giving back to people who are poor what is rightfully theirs.
All six of us have seen the reality of poverty overseas; it’s the main reason we wanted to work for CAFOD. Catherine, one of our colleagues who has just been to Ethiopia, inspired us with tales of her trip. This is her message:
“I’ve just been on the Great Ethiopia Run to raise funds for CAFOD. It was brilliant! I also visited CAFOD projects and I was especially inspired by the positive attitude of local women who are working to make a better life for their community. Now I’m back I want to do something to remind me of all the wonderful people I met, and keep on supporting their work. I think the soup lunch is a great idea.”
This simple idea for sharing with friends and at the same time sharing solidarity and wealth with people living in poverty can easily be done at work, at home, with neighbours, fellow parishioners or even in school. So join our promise, and get people around you to join in too!

We had our first simple lunch last week - lentil and vegetables - delicious! It's my turn to make soup next time...any suggestions?!
Thanks
Catherine
